Purchased for 16,000 pounds after winning an Irish point-to-point, BENNY'S OSCAR made a promising NH debut when scoring over 2m5f at Warwick last month and it looks like money well spent. Dan Skelton's charge travelled strongly before putting the race to bed and is fancied to defy a penalty to make it two wins from two in this sphere. The main threat appears to be Ripper Roo, who has made the frame in a couple of maiden hurdles this year and could make full use of the 6lb he gets from the selection. Gibberwell struggled at Kelso when bidding to follow up his maiden success but could prove best of the remainder.

A tricky puzzle for punters to solve but there is plenty to like about the chances of CHARLIE SNOW ANGEL, who has gone up 4lb for his 3m2f success at Kelso in late December but remains well treated in relation to his best form. Nortonthorpelegend posted a string of good efforts in defeat towards the end of last year and returns to chasing off a fair mark after blowing away the cobwebs in a jumpers' bumper at this venue. Definite Wisdom isn't one to rely on but wold be a big player if in the same form as when scoring off 4lb lower at Musselburgh on his penultimate outing, while Flamboyant Joyaux is also capable on his day.

COUNT MERIBEL often runs well fresh and could bounce back after pulling up at Doncaster in December. The nine-year-old finished second behind Lostintranslation at Carlisle in November 2019 before finishing sixth in the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham, and he is 9lb lower for those efforts now. Better ground will also help him, and Mark Grant's mount is preferred ahead of Dingo Dollar, who was a reliable performer until recently for Alan King and has now switched north to join Sandy Thomson. The nine-year-old finished third over this trip at Musselburgh in November before flopping at the same track over further, and should find these conditions more to his liking.
