VINTAGE GLEN shaped with promise on his seasonal bow when posting an encouraging second at Kelso. The nine-year-old gelding remains lightly raced over staying distances and he gets the vote to defy a 2lb rise for his recent run. Summit Like Herbie has been falling down the weights and he is now 6lb lower than his last win, which came at this course in March last year, while Bobmahley bumped into a subsequent winner when he finished second at Lingfield last month and he completes the shortlist.

BRIEF TIMES built on the promise of his Ffos Las his bumper success when making all on his hurdles debut at Exeter last month. The five-year-old gelding could be dangerous if getting an uncontested lead and he gets the nod to defy a 7lb penalty for that success here. Alghazaal showed a fair level of ability on the Flat and he warrants respect having his first start over timber for Charlie Longsdon, while Bob's Bar and Global Famenglory also hold claims.

Only five lengths separated Karlie and Becky The Boo when fourth and fifth respectively in a warm contest at Newbury earlier this month and both have strong claims now pitched into this weaker company. However, a chance is taken on NEXTDOORTOALICE, who hinted at promise when previously trained in Ireland, including a promising second over hurdles at Bellewstown in July, and she can strike now having her first start for Alex Hales. Annies Regatta and The Sumba Island are also noted and could be open to improvement having their first start over timber.

RATTLE OWL looked set to go very close at Wetherby last month when falling at the last, and he can gain compensation here with the drop in trip expected to suit having travelled ominously well through the aforementioned contest. He is preferred to recent Musselburgh scorer Constancio, who has been raised 3lb for that success, and Gordon's Jet, who demolished his rivals at Sedgefield last month. Hydroplane finished off last season in excellent form with victories at Kempton and Worcester and he must be respected on his return.

Not much to go on in the way of recent form, but it can pay to keep the faith in PYRAMID PLACE, who prior to disappointing last time out at Cheltenham, ran a cracker when second at Chepstow. Milton Harris' charge may prefer softer conditions but he is well capable on his day and can get the better of Courtandbould, who is very interesting on his return to hurdling. An impressive winner of a valuable handicap hurdle at Sandown in April, Herbiers is in need of a revival along with former Grade 2 winning hurdler Global Citizen.

King Of Quinta is a very interesting newcomer and the market may tell us more. Preference is for experience, though, and there was a lot to like about LE FILS DE FORCE's debut third at Market Rasen when he outran odds of 16/1 in a similar race. Bryony Frost takes over in the plate which suggests connections are confident of a big run. Idealdes Villerets, a winner in France, is also noted.

Twice a winner of class 2 handicaps over timber, he could be underestimated in this match.
