The market may be the best guide here, but Polyphonic ran well enough when fourth on his debut over the mile here, and he has an experience advantage over the well-bred newcomers, who may be headed by MASTER SERGEANT. A son of Shamardal out of an interesting Brazilian mare, he looks the part on paper and may yet be the one to beat. Tattered Flag is bred for this surface and could go well for the same stable, while West Wind Blows is another to watch first time out.

Storm Asset showed improvement when stepped up to this trip at Chelmsford, and an added 1lb from the handicapper seems unlikely to stop him putting in another big effort here. He is 5lb bettter off with winner COPPER MOUNTAIN now for a length and three-quarters and ought to finish a lot closer, though the winner may well have had more to call on if needed and could confirm the form. Dajarus didn't get home over the mile last time here, and may do better back at the scene of her November C&D success.

QUICK CHANGE is the obvious choice after the daughter of New Approach came home second on her first two starts, the latest when beaten a couple of lengths over further at Wolverhampton despite pulling too hard. She did run on late that day making the drop back in trip a slight concern, but she could still prove too strong for main danger Velazquez who makes his all-weather debut after a gelding operation. Newcomer Glens Top Cat is well worth a market watch for any signs of confidence.

AL QAREEM sets the standard with two solid efforts in defeat at Kempton and, likely to be suited by the drop back from 1m, he could make it third-time lucky. Ermin Street improved massively from his first to second start and cannot be ruled out, although the bigger threat might be Queen Aminatu, who represents powerful connections on her racecourse debut.

Stepping back up in trip, and generously eased 1lb in the ratings, he could regain the winning thread. Local Bay won impressively over track and trip on his penultimate start and although disappointing at Wolverhampton subsequently, he must enter calculations. Tefnut shouldn't be too far away either.

Gowanlad has proven himself highly effective under these conditions and can also make his presence felt.
