ZAMEKA confirmed the promise that he displayed on debut by finishing a neck second over 7f at Newcastle last time and he will not find many better opportunities than this to get off the mark. Handel has yet to show his best form for this yard but he should not be underestimated, while Cassius Dio and Spirit Of Cimarron are both newcomers to note.

It is hard to look past the course winner VAXHOLM, who pulled clear of the runner-up when scoring at Lingfield on his latest start, registering his third win of the all-weather season. The progressive three-year-old can prove too strong for Bass Strait, who is open to improvement now stepping up in trip, while Rita Rana shaped better than the result when finishing behind the selection last time and is another to note.

The David Evans-trained OLD PORT progressed again when getting off the mark on his handicap debut at this track last week, finishing powerfully having still shown some signs of inexperience. Adam Kirby takes over in the saddle this time and the gelding can get the better of Mighty Power, who may benefit from first-time cheekpieces. Crown Power has the same headgear fitted and cannot be discounted either.

Red Allure is the highest-rated horse in the contest and though not really competitive over 5f at Southwell last time, she did run well for second over this trip at Newcastle. First Verse has been a consistent enough sort over the minimum trip here and could be better at this distance, but BRAZEN ARROW gets the vote. A good third at Chelmsford two starts ago, Christine Dunnett's charge was less impressive at the Essex venue last time but is capable of landing a race of this nature if handling the switch to Tapeta.

INDIAN AFFAIR is firmly in the twilight of his career, but the 12-year-old was not disgraced when third at Chelmsford last time and could strike at the scene of five of his 10 career victories. If he doesn't make his 149th start a winning one, then perhaps Axel Jacklin could be the one to capitalise. Chelsea Banham's charge had barely beaten a horse home in his last five starts of 2021, but he returned from a break to get within a head of success over a furlong further here. Babyduke is the top-rated horse in this but hasn't shown much in three runs to date.
