Peter Miller's gelding is a smart sort in this grade and can see off Tizhotndusty, who was third behind the selection in that Del Mar event. Next Flight seeks a hat-trick and will have his supporters, while Del Mar maiden victor Crooked Finger Ray is open to further progress.

Freedom Flyer has displayed a steady level of ability in four starts to date, but none of those with experience set too high a bar and this maiden appears at the mercy of a newcomer. Smitten By Kitten, a $115,000 purchase in the spring, is worth a second look for Mark Glatt, but Doug O'Neill's STRESSED, who fetched $110,000, has looked sharp on the gallops and shades the verdict.

Doug O'Neill's filly did not enjoy the best of runs when sixth in a Del Mar claimer on her debut in November, but she shaped with promise and could be dangerous if getting the breaks. John Sadler's $200,000 purchase Ragged Rose may prove best of an interesting band of newcomers.

Count Again finished well to see off Next Shares (third), ANOTHERTWISTAFATE (fourth) and Bowies Hero (fifth) at Del Mar in November. There may not be a great deal between that quartet once again, but Anothertwistafate, the beaten favourite that day, is fitted with blinkers for the first time and the headgear could just tip the balance in his favour.
