ARDLA has taken really well to hurdles and gets the vote to follow up a smooth maiden win when making all here last month. The Michael Halford-trained gelding previously filled the runner-up spot at Punchestown behind Grand Jury, who subsequently gave the form a major boost by beating all bar Ginto in the Grade 1 Lawlor's Of Naas Novice Hurdle. Gordon Elliott provides two serious threats in the shape of Au Fleuron, like the selection a maiden winner over course and distance last time, and Ebasari who upset the odds-on Adamantly Chosen at Cork earlier this month. Banbridge and Un Des Flos, an impressive winner in France two months ago, add further spice.

GLEN WYLLIN won a Ballinrobe bumper last spring and was also third to Dysart Dynamo at the Punchestown Festival. The Henry de Bromhead-trained gelding jumped poorly when switched to hurdles on his reappearance but was much better last time over this trip at Fairyhouse when runner-up to Carrig Sam. Belle Metal is an obvious threat. She looked smart in two bumper wins last season but reportedly made a noise when weakening to finish fifth behind Au Fleuron on her hurdling debut at Navan before Christmas. The Willie Mullins-trained filly was sent off at odds-on in that 21-runner event and is obviously held in high regard. The Flier Begley and Manisanda have both shown a decent level of form in bumpers, while Jaycean is a newcomer to note in the market.

ASH TREE MEADOW has come up against some decent sorts in maiden hurdles and may open his account here at the third attempt. He joined Gordon Elliott at a cost of £135,000 following an impressive point-to-point victory last spring and has finished third on both hurdle starts including behind Sir Gerhard at the Leopardstown Christmas meeting. A hood is now fitted as he steps up in trip. Gracchus De Balme has a similar profile having landed a Lisronagh maiden in good style and he also filled a creditable third spot when switched to hurdles over course and distance last month. Hybris is a half-brother to smart stablemate Bacardys but needs to step up on his only previous run in a three-year-old French bumper. Silvertown is a solid 112-rated handicapper but more is probably required here.

MARS HARPER won twice at northern tracks last year and has built up a solid sequence of runs since in handicap company. He probably just didn't see out three miles on a couple of occasions and was only pegged back in the closing stages over this trip at Leopardstown last time. Damalisque won this race in decisive fashion 12 months ago but a 12lb hike has seen his limitations exposed in three outings since. Bread And Butter is running consistently well and ran a cracker in a similar event here before Christmas. Shady Operator is being aimed at the Cross Country Chase at Cheltenham but looks on a competitive mark and would be of interest if the market spoke in his favour.

MACHINE LEARNER was a decent staying handicapper on the Flat winning five times in the UK earlier in his career reaching a career high rating of 92. Johnny Levins has switched him to hurdls in recent months and a mark of 107 seems a reasonable starting point after keeping on in maidens including behind Sir Gerhard at Leopardstown last time. The Robert Tyner yard is in a rich vein of form at present and Never Off Duty made a promising return after a lengthy absence when runner-up to Paddys Planet at Naas earlier this month. THE BOSSES OSCAR was the pick of these over hurdles finishing second off a mark of 151 in the Pertemps Final at Cheltenham and gets the vote to open his chasing account. The Gordon Elliott-trained gelding has been expensive to follow over fences but improved steadily in beginners' events before finding the 28-runner Paddy Power Chase too frenetic when blundering away any chance. Indiana Jones looks set to be a better chaser than a hurdler and finished second twice before taking a heavy fall at the last when close-up in a hot race at Naas last time. Ain't That A Shame runs in the same ownership and has taken on some smart rivals over fences, while Champagne Platinum also pulled up in the Paddy Power Chase but showed useful form both over hurdles and fences for Nicky Henderson.

ROUTINE EXCELLENCE won a four-year-old maiden point-to-point at Tinahely for Colin Bowe but showed precious little in four outings over fences early last year for present connections before landing a big gamble when switched to hurdles at Naas last month. The form of that 20-runner maiden received a couple of timely boosts at Punchestown on Monday and perhaps he can build on that success by taking advantage of a real basement mark over fences. Beating The Odds has solid claims and is now fitted with first-time blinkers after placed efforts over similar trips at Punchestown and Thurles, while the JP McManus-owned trio of Stealthy Tom, Encore Lui and Go All The Way could also take a hand.

JOYEUX MACHIN was in front when a faller two out on his only point-to-point start at Punchestown last spring and ran a cracker when switched to a bumper at the Leopardstown Christmas meeting. The son of Saddler Maker was no match for Facile Vega but there is no disgrace in that as the winner is near the head of the market for the Cheltenham Festival bumper and the remainder of the 16-runner field were well strung out behind. Tag Man also made the frame at Leopardstown over Christmas behind the impressive Redemption Day and should have little difficulty winning a bumper, while Nonbinding is another interesting contender after running Killer Mode close at Naas. Don Chalant has joined Willie Mullins since a promising Tipperary debut last term, while impressive point-to-point winner Hartur D'arc is another to note in what should prove an informative race.
