SERGEANT was an easy winer at Newton Abbott in late August and was strongly fancied to follow up at the same track before falling at the first. Mitchell Bastyan keeps the ride and is in great form and he may well make the difference here. Strong Team looks a serious rival after wins over course and distance and at Kelso and he can go well despite a 6lb rise in the handicap, while Speredek could run in to a place over this trip if he learns to settle better.

Just the four runners and the risk of a tactical affair, but with stable and jockey in good form it may pay to side with COSTLY DIAMOND. Three starts this season have seen gradual improvement with a three-length second at Stratford last month his latest effort. Although upped 4lb in the weights for that, he may be able to make all here. Lucky Robin returns to fences after winning over hurdles here this month and is of interest, as is Check My Pulse who might have more to offer on just his fifth start over fences.

Instant Replay loves it at Sedgefield with six wins to his name, but they have all been over fences and he reverts to hurdles now off a mark 10lb lower than his fences mark. Millie The Minx won very easily at Cartmel in July and is worthy of a place on the shortlist but was last of nine on the Flat at Hamilton latest which is a worry, leaving COUNTISTER as the safe option. An easy eight-length winner at Kelso last time out, an added 9lb may not stop him here despite the rise in class.
