Malpas is clearly talented but it is a concern that he has fallen in two of his three starts over hurdles so far. The Milan gelding has had a wind operation now and title-chasing rider Brian Hughes should get a good spin out of him. Cook The Books has pulled up the last twice but tackles better ground now, but this can go the way of COOPER'S CROSS for Stuart Coltherd. Second in a jumpers' bumper at Newcastle in February, the six-year-old will appreciate this stiffer stamina test.

Costly Diamond arrives here chasing a four-timer but needs to improve off 5lb higher now up in grade. Instant Replay pulled up here last time but drops in trip/class now and won't mind this drying surface. That being said, it will take a good effort to account for Sue Smith's VALENCE D'AUMONT. He was second at Carlisle in October and might have won had Danny Cook not dropped his stick in the closing stages. The seven-year-old remains unexposed and looks likely to be ridden aggressively.

AMBASSADOR took a big step forward in his development when getting off the mark over hurdles at Hereford four weeks ago and further improvement could beckon for Dan Skelton's charge. The four-year-old might have been let in lightly off 116 on handicap debut and might have too much pace for recent Newcastle scorer Burrows Diamond, who doesn't always jump fluently and might improve for fences sooner rather than later. Foster'sisland is consistent and might prove best of the remainder.

Getariver could make a splash on her first start over fences since finishing third at Southwell in December, while C&D winner Tico Times warrants plenty of respect chasing down the hat-trick. However, preference is for the other hat-trick seeker, ROAD WARRIOR. Rebecca Menzies' charge has impressively notched a course/Newcastle double and a further 6lb rise might not be enough to anchor him if arriving in the same mood.

A 5lb rise looks fairly lenient and she is fancied to complete the double. Millie The Minx drops back down in class after struggling at Musselburgh and the dual course scorer merits consideration, while Hexham runner-up Kildrum isn't out of it either.

A big run from Snowy Burrows in the previous race would boost the claims of JUST A SIP, who chased home the former here before bolting up at Plumpton last time. She shoulders a 7lb penalty for that victory but is very much the one to beat. Tamango ran well in the first-time cheekpieces (worn again today) at Stratford and can make the frame lining up off a 2lb lower mark here, while Midnight Jewel also has solid place credentials.

Paul Nicholls' charge should take all of the beating on these terms and gets the verdict ahead of Dundrum Wood, who debuts for a new stable, and Royal Chant, who recently struck between the flags.
