Silent Film cost 190,000gns but failed to make an impression on handicap debut off this mark despite showing plenty of encouragement on his first three outings. It may instead pay dividends to side with the least exposed candidate in the field, RUN TO FREEDOM, on his return from a lengthy absence. The Henry Candy-trained three-year-old went from strength to strength in his juvenile campaign and, should he reproduce the level of form displayed when beating a classy colt last time out, rates the one to beat. Zoffarelli wasn't out of the first two on all of his five appearances last campaign and is worth noting after a break.

SAAHEQ ran a creditable race in the Epsom Dash last week and looks poised to give a good account off 2lb lower. The Amanda Perrett-trained seven-year-old transferred his good from on the all-weather to the turf and it would be somewhat of a surprise if this isn't a workable mark for the son of Invincible Spirit. Kendergarten Kop cannot be dismissed on the hunt for a four-timer, but may have to settle for minor money now venturing away from his beloved Brighton. Seraphinite has hit the ground running after a long absence and completes the shortlist if building on those two outings.

Atalis Bay took a big step forward when finishing second in the Listed Westow Stakes at York, pulling five lengths clear of third, and must be respected. However, a chance is taken that NELSON GAY may be able to regain the level of form produced when routing his rivals over this track and trip in April. The son of Mehmas has produced two underwhelming efforts since, but the step back to this trip and the addition of Ryan Moore in the saddle could spark further progress. Steel Bull won the Group 3 Molecomb Stakes on just his second start and, despite not reproducing that level of form since, warrants interest with a first-time tongue tie.

Given that this is not the strongest of races for the grade a chance can be taken on LATEST GENERATION, who has been well held in his last couple of starts. That said, those efforts came in much stronger races than this and that includes a conditions event over 1m2f at Newbury last time won by the subsequent Derby third Hurricane Lane. The drop in trip and first-time application of a tongue-tie should help this son of Frankel to see his race out better and the pick of his form suggests that he may be better than a mark of 93. King's Knight was not disgraced at Chester last time and that form has already been boosted with the second winning subsequently, while Buxted Too and Repertoire are the pick of the remainder.

KING OF CLUBS did not beat much when getting off the mark over an extended mile at Nottingham last time but he won with plenty in hand on that occasion. Prior to that, the son of Intello was beaten just a short-head by a useful type who won off a mark of 89 earlier this week, which suggests that a current rating of 85 may underestimate Hughie Morrison's progressive colt. Ensured was an 11-length winner of a novice race over 1m2f here a few weeks ago, but the soft ground may have exaggerated his dominance on that occasion. Dark Lion struggled on heavy ground at Haydock last time but he put in a promising effort on good to firm at Goodwood prior to that and he could go well at a price.

BETTY CREAN L A displayed plenty of promise when finishing a close fourth on her debut over 1m2f at Newbury in April but she did not build on that when a beaten favourite at Salisbury last time. The soft ground may have been the reason for that slightly disappointing effort and the daughter of Kingman can be given another chance this afternoon. Poet Of Life is out of a half-sister to the Group 1 winner Beauty Parlour and it would be no surprise to see him go well today, despite his lack of previous race experience. Khaiz, who is full-brother to Ghaiyyath, showed promise on his debut at Doncaster in a race that has worked out quite well and he should only benefit from that experience.

General Zoff has made the frame in both starts since winning at Lingfield in April and he should be in the mix once again this afternoon. Dance To Paris is more than capable of going well in a race of this nature, while Leoncavallo and Tigerten are others to note.
