UNDER OATH is by a sire that Balding knows well in the shape of Dunaden (father of Ranch Hand), while there is also speed in the pedigree through brother Total Gallery, who won a Prix De L'Abbaye for Stan Moore. Bellstreet Bridie is of interest for the in-form Michael Bell/William Buick combination, while Tezzaray also makes the shortlist being a brother to multiple course winner Mountain Rescue.

The ground could be a crucial deciding factor in this competitive affair and the likely favourite Wild Beauty did not seem to be in love with the quick going when second to the very smart Inspiral at Sandown. Both of her wins have come on soft, whereas VALUE THEORY relished this surface when making all to score in tidy fashion over C&D last month. There would look to be plenty more to come from the daughter of Gleneagles. Sunstrike and Shouldavbeenmore complete the shortlist.

FALL OF ROME took his time to get off the mark but now that the penny has dropped and Charlie Appleby seems to have found the key to him, he may be one to watch for the rest of the season. The son of Frankel can follow up his recent C&D success, with the progressive Uncs providing the biggest threat. Blue Collar Lad also warrants consideration after a luckless run at Goodwood in a nursery similar to this.

An open four-runner contest but a chance is taken on handicap debutant STORM DAMAGE who bounced back to form when scoring over this course and distance last time out. The three-year-old gelding seems to be a versatile sort and could be suited by a tactical affair. Godolphin rival Komachi could be the danger to the selection as he has some smart form behind a subsequent Group 3 winner. Zagato remains unexposed after his Redcar success and could have more to offer now pitched back into handicaps.

QUINTILLUS posted an encouraging third-placed effort when last seen in the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot. The son of Dubawi was raised 5lb for that run, but he still looks well treated and gets the vote here with the three-year-old allowance. Fame And Acclaim recorded his best effort since joining Les Eyre at York last month and is not to be underestimated. Lexington Dash should prefer this switch to the turf but he needs to prove himself at this distance.

Classical Wave struggled in rain-softened conditions at Sandown last time and may be better judged by her Windsor effort when first past the post only to be demoted to second. The City's Phantom has been impressive on fast ground at Yarmouth and Leicester but this looks a tougher contest, especially against BUGLE MAJOR. Richard Hughes' charge was far from disgraced when finishing in midfield in the Royal Hunt Cup at Ascot last time and this longer trip and a 2lb lower mark could give him a big chance. Sky Defender is interesting off what looks a workable rating, while You're Hired bounced back to form over a mile at Bath last time and a repeat of his Cambridgeshire fourth from last year would put him in the mix.

Dancing Harry certainly wasn't winning out of turn when successful at Sandown last time and a 2lb rise is far from harsh, while Amazing Red has been raised the same amount for his win over this course and distance. Lucky Deal has been struggling badly this season but those have come in some of the top staying handicaps and he's dropped to an attractive mark, but preference is for AUTUMN WAR. Ian Williams' gelding bounced back to form when second at Haydock and has every chance off the same mark in this.
