Across The Line only just held on by a neck from GET YOUR OWN when they met at Market Rasen just after Christmas. However, the latter is more than capable of reversing that form with him being 7lb better off this time. Paros was too keen when beaten on his UK debut at Sandown in December so the application of a hood might aid his cause.

An 8lb rise may not be enough to stop him from taking another step forward despite the step up in the class. Minella Encore commands respect on his first outing since wind surgery, while Eva's Oskar may benefit from the switch to handicap company for the first time over fences.

PATROCLUS built on his hurdling debut second at Warwick by going one better at Exeter last month and the five-year-old boasts strong credentials with the step back up in distance in his favour. Jeremy Pass was very disappointing at Ascot on his latest start but he is better judged on his beating of Sizable Sam at Wincanton the time before, while Riggs is entitled to be in the mix following his third in a Kempton handicap on Boxing Day.

Each of FAGAN's three efforts so far this season have been promising and he won impressively over an extended 2m7f at Newbury last time. The 11-year-old is clearly in good heart and, despite a 10lb hike in the ratings, looks sure to mount a bold bid. Ami Desbois ran a cracker on his return from a 343-day break at Kempton last month and must enter calculations, while Guitar Pete has a definite chance if none the worse for his fall in the same Kempton event.

Joe Farrell was a classy handicapper a couple of years ago for Rebecca Curtis and the dour stayer could prove a force in this format of racing under Brian Hughes. Silsol was third in a point-to-point in December and could go well for a long way, but CAPTAIN CATTISTOCK might take some catching here. Third on reappearance/stable debut at Wincanton 20 days ago, the eight-year-old is still unexposed for a hunter chaser and remains open to improvement for Fergal O'Brien.

Sam Thomas' record in bumpers this season is an exemplary one and his SKYTASTIC could build on his eye-catching Newbury win on debut. He had some expensive purchases behind on that occasion and with the second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth all since tasting success, the form has a really strong look to it. Conceroe got the better of the useful Captain Morgs at Warwick in October and wasn't disgraced when fifth in a Cheltenham Listed contest next time. The winner of that race followed up at Newbury last weekend and that offers plenty of encouragement for Ben Case's five-year-old. Le Grand Lion shaped with promise when a close-up fourth at Huntingdon in December, while Quiet Flow and Stratton Oakmont are others who make some appeal.
