ASK FOR GLORY bids to continue the fine start to the campaign for Paul Nicholls having shown plenty of promise on both his hurdle outings last season. The six-year-old shaped as though he would benefit from a step up in trip when fourth at Newbury last November and proved that when scoring in easy fashion at Wincanton in February. This appears to be a suitable opportunity before a potential switch to fences once his novice status runs out at the end of next month. Does He Know won nicely at Ludlow earlier in the month and is open to further progression for a yard also in great form at present, while Finisk River, a dual winner during the summer, and Uttoxeter scorer Midnight River also command respect.

Nicky Henderson boasts a strong hand with his two runners, Fix Sun and HIJACK, who are both lightly raced and open to further progression. Preference of the pair goes to the latter as he already has a run under his belt this season, finishing runner-up at Fontwell, and is bred to improve with time being a half-brother to Village Vic. Our Power ended last season with victory at Kempton and could have more to offer despite a 6lb rise. Hometown Boy, who showed promise last season when chasing home McFabulous on his penultimate outing at Market Rasen, and the hat-trick seeking Captain Tom Cat are feared most of the remainder.

The form of ON THE SLOPES' third here over an extended 2m4f in January was given a huge boost when the first and second from that contest won in style at the Cheltenham Festival. Chris Gordon's six-year-old, who is unbeaten in two since that podium finish, looks the one to beat. Rouge Vif ran on well to take third in the Arkle in March, albeit a long way adrift of the front two, and the Grade 2 winner is interesting on his first appearance in the handicap ranks representing the yard that took this with the progressive Saint Calvados last year. Beat The Judge was nine lengths clear of Ballywood (second) when making it back-to-back victories at Fontwell last month but a 7lb rise for the former should bring them closer together this time. Dolos has a career-high chasing mark to defy but can't be ignored following wind surgery for a Paul Nicholls team that are in excellent form.

PIPESMOKER chased home some top operators when producing a couple eye-catching performances in defeat over hurdles last season and he looks every bit a potential improver this term, with this the perfect opportunity to open his account. The forecast sound surface and the drop back in trip is likely to suit Nicky Henderson's five-year-old, who rates as the one to beat. Olly Murphy took this in 2018 with Thomas Darby and this time saddles Champagnesuperover, who created a taking impression when scoring on debut at Ayr and was third in a Listed bumper at Newbury last time. Two-time bumper winner Faivoir could build on his Uttoxeter reappearance for the in-form Dan Skelton stable, while Fergal O'Brien often has his string tuned up for this meeting, which brings Market Rasen second Art Approval into calculations.

FUSIL RAFFLES made an impressive debut over fences when striking at Uttoxeter last month for Nicky Henderson and could claim further success here under Daryl Jacob. A 150-rated hurdler, the five-year-old should be suited by the return to this stamina-sapping track and could have too much for likely market rival Getaway Trump. The latter took a step forward from his Fontwell reappearance when successful at Warwick earlier this month, but that form doesn't look quite as strong. Return Ticket thumped a small field at Sedgefield recently and could take third here, ahead of Sir Valentine.

Benny's Bridge landed a gamble to take this race last year, though he is 9lb higher now and it is a slight concern that we haven't seen him for 341 days. Wild Max clearly has talent, but raced with the choke out when down the field at Musselburgh in February and needs to mature in order to fulfil his potential. Ashington will be fit after a couple of spins on the level, but NANABELLE has an interesting profile. Twice a winner over hurdles in France before a poor first showing for Nicky Henderson at Market Rasen in February, the four-year-old might have just needed time to acclimatise and is surely well handicapped off 129 with Jack Tudor doing the steering.
