Few of these could be considered persuasive but JESSICA RABBIT has maintained her form well with three solid placed efforts since belatedly opening her account at Doncaster in the autumn and could take some stopping in the hands of the talented Bradley Roberts. Graeme McPherson's mare is ideally-suited by this 2m6f trip and her current mark remains exploitable, though Luca Brasi's Boy and the veteran Catching Time are others who arrive on the back of solid efforts. Meanwhile, Eurkash would also hold solid claims off his present mark if recent wind surgery has had the desired effect.

Useful Flat handicapper SHIP OF THE FEN flattered to deceive when campaigned over hurdles last season, but never raced in a contest as moderate as this. Having advertised his well-being with a win on the Flat at Doncaster last month, he's well worth another tilt over obstacles and it would be no surprise if the introduction of a visor has a positive effect. Say Nothing arrives here on the back of two placed efforts in novice handicap company at Fakenham but remains winless from 22 career starts and Captain Courageous could be a better bet having shown up well on ground softer than ideal at Bangor after a break last month.

Four-time hurdles winner Skandiburg is the pick of these on official ratings but he didn't look a chasing natural in two previous attempts over fences and maybe isn't one to take a short price about. Fellow four-time hurdles winner YEAVERING BELLE is preferred after jumping well in the main when chasing home a promising Paul Nicholls hotpot over slightly shorter at Worcester last month, only giving way on the run-in. That experience should have brought her on and this looks an ideal opportunity with her handy mares' allowance. O'Grady's Boy isn't in the same class over hurdles but showed enough when second in a hunter chase over C&D to command some respect.

Goldencard, No Quarter Asked and Joly Maker each bring winning form into this race but all three have their quirks and wouldn't be obvious ones to follow up off higher marks. Instead it may pay to give another chance to ASTUTE BOY after his abject latest effort at Hexham was attributed to a lost shoe. Prior to that Mike Smith's gelding had suggested there were chasing races to be won with him when finishing a runner-up to a progressive sort at Southwell on just his second fencing attempt, and his current mark looks more than workable.

FOR JIM has burst back into life in differing headgear this season and Jennie Candlish's grey has strong claims of making it four chase wins from his last five attempts in this staying handicap. The nine-year-old looked better than ever when making light work of seven rivals over 3m at Hexham last time and the way he was heavily easily down in the closing stages suggests a 7lb rise may not be insurmountable. Course winner Dee Star invariably goes well here and is again respected despite being raised 3lb for a narrow defeat last time, whilst similar comments apply to both Going Mobile and Absolutely Dylan who also picked up second place prize money on their most recent starts.

The combination of a break, better ground and a drop in class saw Oakmont win a selling handicap in taking fashion over this C&D last time out but he now has bigger questions asked of him off a 7lb higher mark in a better race. Preference is for the lightly-raced BRIGHT EYED EAGLE who, despite pulling hard at at Fontwell last time , managed to finish a 2l second to the improving Light In The Sky. Rated 82 on the Flat, there remains more to come from Olly Murphy's charge when granted a stronger gallop and he could take some stopping off his present mark. Sea Prince, a novice winner at Hexham on his last completed start, could also go well if none the worse for a recent spill at Southwell.

A credible case could be made out for quite a few here, including Millie The Minx who has twice gone close on the Flat since winning her most recent starts over hurdles at Sedgefield, albeit off an 8lb lower mark. Better value may lie, however, with THE STEWARD who shaped better than the bare form suggests over C&D last time on his second run back after a break. The gelding did win off an 8lb higher mark here less than two years ago and it may only be a matter of time before he exploits a tumbling rating. The Blame Game and Ascot Day weren't too far off on their latest starts and should remain competitive, whilst Hooroo is better than he showed at Ffos Las latest.
