    Preview:

    Beyond The Pale made a pleasing return when landing a Southwell bumper in the summer and followed that up by justifying favouritism on his hurdles bow at Fontwell last month. He warrants plenty of respect for a stable enjoying a fine season, but faces a tough task having to concede weight to all his rivals here. Therefore, preference is for ZYON, who represents a handler with an outstanding record in this contest, winning it six times in the last 10 years. Paul Nicholls' six-year-old hasn't been seen since finishing third behind a pair of useful operators (Dolphin Square and Kiltealy Briggs) over course and distance 12 months ago, but the Ditcheat handler has his string fully firing and the Martaline gelding can make a bold bid on his reappearance. Cap St Vincent is a four-time winner over fences and has experience on his side, while Getmegold is an interesting graduate from the pointing field starting life with Colin Tizzard.
