DANSE IDOL was an encouraging second to a 136-rated rival on her first outing for Dan Skelton at Ludlow and looks to have been given a real chance off a mark of 121, running in a handicap over the larger obstacles for the first time. Black Tulip is only 2lb higher than when second in a competitive Cheltenham handicap earlier in the season and before that won well at Uttoxeter. Northern Beau is now rated 4lb lower than her most recent success and is a versatile performer who has to be respected.
