IMPULSIVE ONE looks an exciting prospect after winning both of his starts over hurdles easily and, with further improvement on the cards, Nicky Henderson's gelding appears to be the one to beat in this contest. Knight Salute won comfortably on his first start over obstacles and has the scope for progression in this sphere, while Rhebus Road is a dual winner on the Flat and looks an interesting recruit for Oliver Sherwood.

Preview:

Naizagai made an encouraging start over fences when second at Sedgefield last week and this may be a decent opportunity for him to open his account over the larger obstacles. However, it may pay to focus on the chasing debutants, with LIGHT N STRIKE catching the eye as he comes here on the back of a wind operation having had just four starts over hurdles. The five-year-old has looked a chaser in the making and could be a big player, while Pencreek has a similar profile and may feature as well.

COBBLERS DREAM made an impressive hurdling debut at Warwick and there could plenty of improvement to come, so he gets the vote. Balko Saint disappointed over fences last time, but he could be dangerous back over timber as, prior to that run, the four-year-old won a valuable race over the smaller obstacles at Compiegne with plenty in hand. Tulin is another for the shortlist if he can resume his progress and put an underwhelming display at Newton Abbot behind him.

Mercian Prince posted an encouraging second at Worcester last month and he is likely to be on the premises after a 2lb rise. However, a chance is taken on GOA LIL, who returned to form with a success over hurdles at Perth and he appears to be on a fair mark reverting to fences. Master Work can go well fresh and is one to note on his seasonal return with conditions likely to suit.

SILVER STREAK has a terrific record at this course and he gets the vote to land his third consecutive victory in this contest on his seasonal return. Sceau Royal enjoyed a fine campaign last season and appears to be the chief threat with him being a versatile performer at a high level over both hurdles and fences. Teqany has had an excellent spell on the Flat this summer and merits respect switching back to the National Hunt scene.

Hawk's Well is open to improvement on just his third outing over the larger obstacles and he is capable of being in the mix along with Ebony Gale, who may benefit from a change of headgear to cheekpieces.

GALA DE CORTON displayed some promise in bumpers last season, most notably when third at Ludlow, and the step up in trip on his hurdles debut promises to bring about a fair amount of improvement. Zafar has won twice during the summer at Uttoxeter and Kelso, getting the better of Cardboard Gangster on the latter occasion, but there is every chance that form could be reversed as he may struggle under a double penalty.
